As Columbia Valley locals (and food enthusiasts) we have frequented a number of restaurants in the Invermere, BC area. We suggest calling establishments or checking their hours online to be sure they are open. (There is a housing shortage in the Valley, which sometimes leads to staff shortages and reduced hours.)
Spice Hut
We are big Spice Hut fans! The dining room is large (with plenty of room for our toddler to walkabout and explore), staff are attentive and friendly and the food almost makes you want to lick your plate clean! If you are not familiar with Indian food (though curious to try), I recommend ordering the Palak Paneer, Aloo Ghobi and Butter Chicken accompanied with rice and garlic naan bread.
Fubuki Sushi
Feel like sushi? Fubuki is the Invermere sushi hot spot! This restaurant can get quite busy on the weekend, so I recommend arriving early to avoid wait times. Fubuki is a small, cozy sushi restaurant with a bit of Japanese flair. They have a several tables, a private room, as well as a small bar that customers can sit at. Staff were attentive, child-friendly and the sushi was great! We even made new friends that were sitting at the table next to us. A very warm, fun and lively atmosphere.
Kootenay Coffee works
Kootenay Coffee Works serves up warm, delicious homemade soup and sandwiches that don’t break the bank! Obviously popular amongst locals as they often sell out of their soup. The dining area has limited seating, so it can be difficult to get a spot in the colder months.. But we’ve always managed to get a seat!
Black Forest Steak + Schnitzel Haus
If you are thinking about going to Black Forest, make sure you call ahead of time to make a reservation! (We were lucky enough to have gotten their last table when we dined with them.) The Black Forest has been an Invermere staple for decades. I can remember always feeling curious about it as we drove past it on our way to Fairmont Hot Springs. The wait staff are friendly and dress in traditional German clothing, which really add to the experience. We found the wait time a bit long (we went at about 6pm), but the food was cooked well and Charli loved looking at all the birds in their aviary.
Stolen Church
If you’re looking for a quick bite, Stolen Church has a few options that are healthy and delicious. I’m a big fan of their tofu breakfast wrap, and baked goods! In the summer, they have a large selection of gelato and sorbet, which us ice cream aficionado’s definitely appreciate. They have some indoor seating, and in the summer have a gorgeous patio where patrons can relax and enjoy their goods.
Whether you’re a local or just passing through the Columbia Valley, there are a surprising variety of restaurants that cater to families, foodies, and everyone in between. Hopefully these recommendations help make your next meal in Invermere both delicious and stress-free!
